Niacinamide for Acne & Oil Control
Niacinamide is not a traditional “acne drug” like benzoyl peroxide or adapalene. Instead, it works in the background to improve oil balance, calm inflammation and support the barrier.
How niacinamide helps acne-prone skin
- Helps regulate sebum production over time.
- Reduces redness around active spots.
- Supports barrier repair when you use drying treatments.
- Can fade post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark marks).
Combining niacinamide with other acne treatments
Niacinamide usually layers well with:
- Benzoyl peroxide (AM or PM, depending on routine).
- Salicylic acid (BHA) cleansers or leave-ons.
- Adapalene or other retinoids (use niacinamide first, then moisturiser).
If your skin feels tight, burning or very flaky, pause harsher products and focus on a simple routine with a gentle cleanser, niacinamide and moisturiser.
